School of Legal Studies in collaboration with NSS, organised a visit to Aganwari, Berka for an Awareness camp on Menstrual Health and Hygiene. The informative sessions aimed to dispel myths, promote proper hygiene practices, and foster an open dialogue surrounding menstruation. The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged community engagement, ensuring that women, young girls, and even men actively participated in discussions to share their experiences and ask questions.

School of legal studies organised an extension activity titled “Awareness drive on reducing inequality and advancing women rights” in collaboration with DLSA. Students visited Sheetla mata mandir, DLSA Camp where they had spread awareness together with Advocate Sunil Sharma (Resource Person, DLSA) amongst the women regarding their Rights given by law.

The female students of the School of Legal studies attended a Capacity Development Programme on Rise & Lead: Young Women Pioneering Technology, Buisness and Public Life organised by National Commission for Women in collaboration with NorthCap University. The students had an interactive session with experts.

K.R. Mangalam University is proud to announce its collaboration with the Department of Justice under the esteemed Pro Bono Club Scheme. As a part of the initiative “Nyaya Bandhu,” the university is committed to fostering a culture of pro bono legal services among the youth of India. This partnership is like a bridge, connecting law students to underserved communities, allowing them to offer legal aid and contribute to social justice.
Under the guidance of *Nodal Officer/Faculty Incharge, Dr. Shobhna Jeet*, Associate Professor, School of Legal Studies, the initiative aims to establish a pan-India framework for pro bono legal services, ensuring holistic access to justice for all. By engaging students in meaningful legal work, we are preparing them to be not just legal professionals, but also compassionate advocates of change.
This collaboration symbolizes the university’s continued dedication to empowering its students to make a positive impact on society.

The 5th International Conference on “Embracing Diversity: Exploring Third Gender Marriages and Gender Equality,” hosted by the School of Legal Studies and Women Empowerment and Development Centre of K.R. Mangalam University in collaboration with the Policy Research Center, Bangladesh, commenced with an inaugural session featuring distinguished dignitaries shedding light on the conference’s theme. Various renowned guest speakers were invited to throw light on this third gender marriages topicc. It helped students to participate in this event and bring out new facts about the same.

The Centre for Criminology and Victimology, in collaboration with the MUN Club at the School of Legal Studies hosted a dynamic and thought-provoking debate titled Capital Punishment for Rapists: A Deterrent or a Delusion? Students from across disciplines brought the room alive with compelling arguments—interweaving statistics, moral perspectives, and personal convictions. The debate delved into critical questions: Can capital punishment truly deter crimes of sexual violence? Or does it risk undermining justice by overlooking ethical implications and survivor dignity? The atmosphere was intellectually electric as speakers navigated the complex terrain between justice, retribution, and reform. The Winners of the Debate were Mr. Pankaj Parashar (B.A,LL.B. (H.), 8th Sem), Mr. Nishchay Nath Tiwari (B.A.LL.B. (H.), 8th Sem), Ms. Deeksha (B.A.LL.B. (H.), 6th Sem). The event concluded with warm thanks from Dr. Megha Garg, Chairperson of the Centre, who emphasized the importance of such platforms in building a justice-oriented legal consciousness.

The Legal Aid Committee, School of Legal Studies organised a donation drive and a visit to The Earth Saviours Foundation, Bandhwari. The purpose of the visit was to connect with the residents, provide companionship and a listening ear. The students distributed the items collected and interacted with the residents of the foundation. Witnessing their resilience and the sense of community within the foundation left a lasting impression on us, strengthening the importance of care and empathy for all senior citizens. The visit served as a poignant reminder of the sad reality of the world and reinforced values of compassion and empathy in all students.

School of Legal Studies conducted an educational visit to Govt. Model Sanskriti Sr. Sec. School, Sohna, Gurugram. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into the legal, social, and economic aspects of drug trafficking, particularly in the local context. Students played a Nukkad Natak and engaged in interactive sessions with students from the school, discussing prevalent drug trafficking patterns, challenges faced by authorities, and community responses to the issue. Students had the opportunity to observe firsthand the local environment and potential areas vulnerable to drug trafficking activities.

The School of Legal Studies in collaboration with the MUN club organised an educational visit to the Supreme Court of India for law students. The visit provided an opportunity for students to witness the judicial proceedings of the highest court in the country, giving them direct exposure to real-life courtroom and legal discussions. During the visit, students observed various hearings in different courts and gained knowledge about the judicial process, understanding the intricacies of case law, argumentation, and judicial decision-making.

School of Legal Studies, in light of the pressing societal issue of drug trafficking, an educational initiative has been providing to students with practical experience and insight into law enforcement efforts. This program involves a three-week visit to various police stations such as Sohna, Bhondsi and Badshahpur, aiming to deepen student’s understanding of the complexities of drug-related crimes and the role of law enforcement agencies in combating them.
The objective of this educational visit is to complement theoretical knowledge with practical exposure. By immersing students in the daily operations of police stations, they gain knowledge of investigative procedures, legal frameworks, and community engagement strategies employed in addressing drug trafficking. By interacting with law enforcement officers and witnessing their community outreach efforts, students develop a deeper appreciation for the importance of police-community relations.

Centre of Criminology and Victimology, School of Legal Studies organized an expert talk on the overview of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) 2023 with a warm felicitation extended to Advocate Sagar Panghal. The session provided students with a thorough understanding of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita 2023 and its implications making it a highly educational and enriching experience.

Legal Aid Committee, School of Legal Studies conducted an extension activity and survey on environmental law and safeguards in the village of Ghamroj. The initiative aimed to raise awareness within the local community about the importance of environmental protection and the legal frameworks in supporting sustainable development. During the activity, the team engaged with villagers, explaining key environmental laws and discussing their relevance to the community. The survey explored villagers’ knowledge on topics such as wet and dry waste, dumping grounds, garbage trucks, and cleanliness. This effort contributed to fostering a more informed and environmentally conscious community in Ghamroj.

School of Legal Studies organized a memorable farewell event for the Class of 2024. The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome speech, followed by a traditional Tikka ceremony. The juniors then gave brilliant dance performances for everyone. Following this, the seniors shared their cherished memories and experiences making everyone nostalgic and emotional. This was followed by an entertaining ramp walk by the graduating batch. A few seniors also showcased their dance talents and gave beautiful dance performances. The celebration continued with a delightful lunch, after which titles were awarded to the graduating students.

The Centre for Sustainable Development Goals, in collaboration with the Centre for Criminology and Victimology, organised a guest lecture titled “Correctional Counselling and Risk Assessment: Addressing Domestic Violence, Sexual Offences, and Recidivism,” delivered by Professor Lin Mingjie from the Department of Criminology at National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan. Professor Mingjie focused on the critical role of correctional counselling and risk assessment in addressing complex issues such as domestic violence, sexual offences, and recidivism. He emphasised the need for tailored counselling interventions and robust risk assessment tools to better understand the underlying causes of these crimes and prevent repeat offences. The lecture highlighted the importance of integrating criminological theories with practical, rehabilitative measures to reduce recidivism and improve societal safety.

School of Legal Studies, under the esteemed Motilal Nehru Chair, organized Special Lecture VII on ‘Legal Education Trends in India’. The chief guest of the event was Prof. Ranbir Singh, founder and former Vice Chancellor of NLU Delhi. Prof. Ranbir Singh, the founder and former Vice Chancellor of NALSAR Hyderabad and National Law University, Delhi, shared invaluable insights into law as a profession, emphasizing the pivotal role of legal education, research, and diligence.

School of Legal Studies and MKA Legal Law Offices, New Delhi, formalized their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The ceremony took place at MKA Legal Office located in New Delhi. This strategic partnership was designed to enhance the educational and professional opportunities for students of the School of Legal Studies. The MoU outlines a framework for collaboration that includes internships, placements, and co-organized events such as workshops, seminars, and guest lectures. This partnership aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, providing students with invaluable exposure to real-world legal practice.

Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development Goals, Gender Sensitization Committee, Legal Aid Clinic, School of Legal Studies, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NEK Mission Foundation. The event marked the official establishment of a collaborative framework for the implementation of Project Saksham 3.0 which aimed at providing legal aid and literacy to marginalized communities. Through activities such as Mega Camps, legal workshops, seminars, and distribution of informational materials, the project seeks to empower individuals with knowledge about their legal rights and responsibilities, ultimately fostering a more equitable society.

School of Legal Studies conducted a street play on drug trafficking and drug abuse at Joy Street Mall, Badshahpur, Gurugram. The student’s performances were outstanding, reflecting their hard work and dedication. The play not only entertained but also educated and engaged the public, made a significant impact.

School of Legal Studies organized a Special Lecture- V on “Rule of Law under Tension” as a part of Motilal Nehru Lecture Series. The Chief guest of the event was Professor B.B.Pande. Professor Mehraj Mir, the chair professor of Motilal Nehru Chair also joined the event. The main purpose of this event was to explore various aspects related to the rule of law, human rights, and the societal impact of legal systems. Professor B.B.Pande in his speech emphasized on the importance of rule of law and how it is in tension today. He discussed the tensions and challenges faced by the rule of law, such as transgressions of legal processes, selective deployment of laws, majoritarian faith-oriented re-imaginations and balancing economic interests to promote greater equality. Through this, the attendees gained a deep understanding of what is rule of law and how it is under tension.

The School of Legal Studies organised a special lecture VIII of the Motilal Nehru Lecture series on “Right to Privacy and Data Protection.” The chief guest of the event was M.K. Bhandari, founder and director of GALTER (Global Academy of Law-Tech Education and Research). The main purpose of this event was to highlight the importance of the right to privacy and data protection. Professor M.K. Bhandari, in his speech, emphasised the importance of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The lecture explored the legal and ethical considerations surrounding individuals’ privacy rights in the digital age. The discussion delved into the importance of safeguarding personal data and the evolving legal frameworks designed to protect the right to privacy as a fundamental right. The session was an enriching, invaluable, and inspiring experience for all the law students.

School of Legal Studies (SOLS) in collaboration with National Law University, Delhi (MoU Partner), organised a student exchange program. Students visited the NLU Delhi campus, where they paid a visit to the library of the university which comprises of vast collection of law books, legal journals, magazines, reports and legal encyclopaedias. Students got an opportunity to meet Prof. Anup Surendranath ( Executive Director of Project 39A-A criminal justice programme of the University). Also, they got an incredible opportunity to visit the precincts of *Delhi Judicial Academy. Overall, the successful completion of day two in the student exchange program set the positive tone for the remainder of the exchange, laying the groundwork for academic excellence, cultural understanding, and personal growth.

Moot Court Committee, School of Legal Studies hosted a successful training session titled “How to Make Memorials and Essentials of Mooting.” The event was designed to equip students with essential skills for moot court competitions, the session focused on the art of drafting memorials and mastering mooting techniques. Attendees were provided with practical insights into structuring memorials, effective legal writing, and oral advocacy. The interactive session also included live demonstrations and a Q&A segment, allowing students to clarify doubts and learn from real-world experiences. The training was a significant step in preparing the students for upcoming moot court competitions.

The School of Legal Studies had the privilege of visiting the Parliament of India. The visit, aimed at giving students a deeper understanding of the workings of India’s legislative system. The day began with an insightful session where students were introduced to the structure, functions, and significance of the Parliament by the Guide assigned by the PRIDE. They visited the modern New Parliament Building, an architectural wonder designed to meet the growing demands of India’s legislative process. It was here that students saw firsthand how the legislative work has evolved with time. The visit gave them a unique opportunity to observe the ongoing sessions in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, providing an in-depth understanding of the debates and procedures that shape the laws of the country. The students were guided through the iconic Old Parliament Building, a symbol of India’s legislative history. This building, rich in heritage, provided students with a glimpse into the roots of India’s democratic journey. Highlights of the visit were the Parliament Library, a treasure trove of documents, books, and legislative records. Students were fascinated to learn about the role of this 2nd Largest library of India in supporting the research and documentation needed for the functioning of Parliament. Another significant part of the visit was the PRIDE Office (Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies). This educational visit was an eye-opening experience for all the students. It allowed them to see the real-world application of their legal studies and deepened their understanding of the role of law in governance. The day was not just informative but also inspiring, and it undoubtedly sparked greater curiosity about the legislative processes that shape India’s future.

Students of School of Legal Studies visitied Supreme Court of India where they learned about the Court Proceedings. They observed the structure, sitting arrangements of the judges and its benches were explained how the proceedings go on. Also, the students were taken to Judges Library they were shown a documentary about how efficient and expeditious the working of the Hon’ble Court is. The students enlightened themselves by walking in the premises of the Court.

The School of Legal Studies in collaboration with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Legal and Ethical Matters Cell and KEIC organised “The Art of Protection: A Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights” convened a diverse array of participants eager to fortify their grasp on safeguarding their creative endeavors. Renowned speaker Dr. Narendra Yadav, an Indian Patent Agent, spearheaded the event, delving into the intricacies of copyright, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets, while offering practical strategies for navigating legal frameworks. The event served as a catalyst for instilling a culture of respect for intellectual capital, urging attendees to apply the knowledge gained in their respective fields. By embracing robust intellectual property protection practices, participants are poised to not only safeguard their creations but also contribute to the broader landscape of innovation and creativity.
