School of Agricultural Sciences at K R Mangalam University organised a special lecture on career opportunities in agriculture for students. Dr. Deepak Kumar was the speaker for the event. During the session, Dr. Kumar highlighted the potential job opportunities for agriculture professionals in the state and central government He further enriched the discussion on how to become an entrepreneur in the field of agriculture and could get funds from the state and central governments on a high subsidiary basis.

School of Agricultural Sciences, KRMU in collaboration with the AAE (Assistant Agricultural Engineer)Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare conducted an extension activity entitled “Rice Crop Residue Management ” at Tigaon Faridabad. The block level event aimed to educate the farmers of the village and students about the in-situ and ex-situ management of rice crop residue. The session gave valuable insights and guidance regarding the various existing problems caused by stubble burning and how to manage the residues in the field.

School of Agricultural Sciences organized a lecture on agriculture education and career opportunities in agriculture at Nuh, Haryana. The lecture was organized by the Haryana Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (HAMET) and coordinated by MANAGE, Hyderabad, GOI. The lecture was attended by the students and department of agriculture officials. Dr. Deepak Kumar emphasized the significance of agriculture as a fundamental sector that supports global economies, provides food, and sustains livelihoods. He explains various methods for developing hybrid varieties in field crops, storage and conservation methods of seeds, names of high-yielding varieties of rice, bajra, mustard, maize, and sorghum, etc., and different schemes of state and central government to promote agriculture start-ups.

School of Agricultural Sciences organized a memorable farewell party for the 4th-year agriculture students. The event was a delightful blend of heartfelt speeches, vibrant performances, and warm camaraderie. The Program began with the welcome of Dean SOAS, guest and final year students of B. Sc. (H) Ag. 2020 with the triumph of the drum and tilak ceremony. First-year and third-year students have performed group, solo and duet dances. A play named ‘in logo k sath rehna parerga’ which has depicted the life of students from the first day of college till the last day of farewell and their enthusiasm, love and respect inculcated among students towards their institution during their degree program. The event celebrated the hard work and dedication of the graduating students, giving them special memories as they move on to the next chapter of their lives. Overall, the farewell party was a resounding success, filled with joy, laughter, and a sense of accomplishment.

School of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with the Gender Sensitization and Safety Committee, KRMU, organised an insightful seminar on the theme “Understanding Gender: Breaking Stereotypes, Building Equality”. The seminar aimed to foster awareness and dialogue around gender equality and inclusivity within academic and social spaces. The seminar was graced by Dr. Shobhna Jeet, Associate Professor, School of Legal Studies (SOLS) and Chairperson of Gender Sensitization and Safety Committee, who served as the resource person. Dr. Shobhna Jeet opened the session with a thought-provoking and engaging presentation that set the tone for the seminar, highlighting the importance of understanding gender beyond traditional norms and advocating for inclusive practices. The seminar proved to be a significant step toward building a more informed and inclusive academic environment, encouraging attendees to challenge stereotypes and contribute to gender equity.

The School of Agriculture Sciences, Hosted an insightful Session on Future Opportunities in Agriculture Education. At the event, students were engaged in a hands-on session on Value addition and Food processing. Students learned about making Mojito, mushroom pickle, tomato chutney, mango and watermelon candy. Following this, Mrs Richa delivered a lecture on entrepreneurship in agriculture to guide students to take entrepreneurial activities after their graduation.

School of Agricultural Sciences conducted a lecture on professional ethics for teaching staff. Professional ethics serve as the moral compass guiding the actions and decisions of educators, shaping the educational environment, and safeguarding the reputation of our esteemed institution. The lecture aimed to enhance the understanding of professional ethics, highlight their significance in academia, and equip our faculty with practical tools for integrating ethical principles into their teaching and research activities. This event emphasised on promoting a culture of ethical conduct among our teaching staff.

Students of School of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sikohpur conducted a training programme in village Lakhuwas on “Crop production technology on Kharif crops.” The training programme marked a significant step towards fostering a collaborative learning environment between agricultural students and local farmers, ultimately contributing to the advancement of sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

Students of School of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sikohpur conducted a training programme in village Dhaula on “Crop production technology on Kharif crops. training programme in village Dhaula on “Crop production technology on Kharif crops.” The training was organised as a part of student READY/RAWE programme of B.Sc. Agriculture. The programme began with warm welcome of Sarpanch of village, farmers and Dean SOAS. This training programme marked a significant step towards fostering a collaborative learning environment between agricultural students and local farmers, ultimately contributing to the advancement of sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

Students of School of Agricultural Sciences, completed two, one-month training programme on producing organic farm produce and supply chain and a project to explore farmers’ inclination towards adopting natural farming practices in Southern Haryana in collaboration with Dharuhera Agro Farms Pvt. Ltd, Dharuhera Haryana. In both these training programmes, students were provided with hands-on training and practical exposure to various aspects of natural farming, including organic sources of nutrients, crop cultivation, marketing strategies, and supply chain management. They gained valuable insights into organic sources of nutrients such as Jivamrit, Beejamrit, Neemastra, Agniastra, and Dashaparni, understanding their significance in maintaining soil health and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Students from School of Agricultural Sciences (SOAS) had the unique opportunity to visit the FMDI (Fertiliser and Marketing Development Institute) centres of IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative). The day began with insightful sessions led by Dr. R.P.S. Yadav, Head of the FMDI unit, as well as Mr. Rajneesh, Marketing Head, and Mr. Shubham Bais. They presented a comprehensive overview of IFFCO’s history, emphasising its evolution as a farmer-friendly cooperative organization. The sessions highlighted various products and innovative technologies developed by IFFCO, showcasing their significance in supporting farmers and enhancing agricultural practices. Students also had the chance to explore IFFCO’s museum, where they gained immense knowledge about the cooperative’s contributions to agriculture and rural development in India.

School of Agriculture Sciences in collaboration with NSS, organized a tree planting programme at Lakhuwas village. Ms. Priyanshu Choubey (Soil Science), Assistant Professor, SOAS stated the benefits of planting trees and awared villagers and students about how they can protect environment and how we can conserve air.
