The Red Cross Society, founded on the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality, shares a mission in fostering selfless service and community welfare. The Red Cross Society encourages the spirit of empathy and service among volunteers, particularly students and young individuals, by engaging them in activities that promote the welfare of the entire community.
The Red Cross Society’s motto, “Promoting Health, Serving Humanity ,” emphasizes humanitarian values, encouraging individuals to prioritize the well-being of others above personal interests. The society provides students with opportunities to enhance their personalities and develop leadership and organizational skills while serving society. The Red Cross Society aims to nurture compassion and social responsibility through initiatives such as healthcare camps, blood donation drives, and awareness campaigns.
The Red Cross Society’s symbol, the Red Cross, on a white background, is a globally recognized emblem of protection and aid. It represents hope, care, and support in times of crisis, much like the Roth wheel of the Konark Sun Temple, which symbolizes the continuous cycle of life and the unending spirit of service.

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) programs are a vital part of the strategic vision of the Indian Red Cross Society. These programs recognize and harness young people’s diverse and significant roles as innovators, cultural ambassadors, peer educators, community mobilizers, or advocates for change. Youth Red Cross members are seen as catalysts for change, working tirelessly to support vulnerable communities. When collaborating with older generations, they bring fresh ideas and energy, fostering an environment of mutual respect and cooperation. This interaction between generations promotes the exchange of knowledge and skills, with experienced Red Cross volunteers offering valuable mentorship. This synergy is essential for nurturing the next generation of leaders today.
The YRC initiatives help the Indian Red Cross Society to uphold and implement the core principles of the Movement by focusing on:

Benefits of Youth Red Cross Committee Participation:

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit at KR Mangalam University (KRMU) is essential in fostering a sense of social responsibility and humanitarian values among students through various community service initiatives. One key activity involved participating in a TB awareness survey in Lakhuwas village, under the supervision of the District Red Cross Society, where volunteers educated the community about TB prevention and treatment. This initiative helped raise awareness about public health issues in rural areas, giving volunteers practical experience in health outreach.
Additionally, KRMU YRC volunteers participated in the Saras Mela Internship, organized under the District Commissioner’s Office, where they gained skills in event management, coordination, and teamwork while contributing to the successful organization of a major trade fair. Volunteers also attended adventure and training camps by the State Red Cross, enhancing their leadership, emergency response, and teamwork skills.
