Extension Activity on prevalence of urinary incontinence

School of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences organised a long-term extension activity focused on the prevalence of urinary incontinence among females in rural Haryana, specifically in Palwal District. This initiative was conducted as a survey-case study and health camp. Urinary incontinence remains a significant concern for middle-aged women, primarily due to weakened pelvic floor muscles. It can result in an inability to control the bladder, leading to urine leakage while sneezing or coughing, as well as a persistent urge to urinate. Through this survey, students had the opportunity to assess numerous females in the district, enhancing their understanding of this condition. The females were taught pelvic floor strengthening exercises which involved training of the pelvic floor in order to improve muscle strength and prevent uterine prolapse. A total of 40 patients were assessed and treated.
